Pick Up & Tally Up
After posting numerous flyers around the school and including them into the school newsletters, I was excited to see how many donations we could acquire as a school. Mr. Burk was even kind enough to give the drive a shoutout on NP120, New Palestine High School's weekly informative broadcast. The Toiletry Drive lasted a week so I picked up the four boxes at the end of the day on Friday. Monday morning I counted up the number of items per bin to see which grade level donated the most. In total, we collected 41 toiletries ranging from shampoo, conditioner, soap, face wash, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, perfume/cologne, to lotion. The seniors donated the most amount giving them extra points towards the Class Cup!

New Project Proposal Now that we are back from Christmas break, it is time to start brainstorming a new project. I have spoken to various school faculty about projects that they view as necessary improvements in our school community. Mrs. Lightcap, one of our school guidance counselors, is starting a toiletry closet to supply students with hygiene products, but is in need of more resources. Next Steps To get the ball rolling on this project, I first had to create a flyer outlining all of the necessary information to entice students to participate. The toiletry drive will be the week of January 27 through January 31 and all proceeds will benefit local families in the community. Students can donate shampoo, conditioner, soap, face wash, deodorant, toothbrush, toothpaste, perfume/cologne, and lotion. At New Palestine High School, some faculty started a competition amongst the grade levels called Class Cup. Various competitions have been held throughout the year to earn points, and the grade level with the most will win a special trip. I have incorporated the Class Cup into my toiletry drive. I emailed Mr. Burk, an NPHS faculty member in charge of the Class Cup and news broadcast known as NP120, in hopes of including the information regarding my drive in the broadcast. He was gladly willing and is excited to see the outcome this drive will bring. Left To Do
With all of the tedious details in place, all I have left to accomplish is obtaining boxes to hold the donations and posting flyers around the school! |
